Nuki's chilli
A simple, hearty meal perfect for winter seasons. A delicious comfort food when you just want to stay at home.

Ingredients

  • 900g ground beef
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 can (800g) crushed tomatoes
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 can (about 1 cup) kidney beans
  • ½ tablespoon brown sugar

Toppings

  • Shredded cheddar
  • Sour cream
  • Scallion
  • chopped tomato
  • cilantro
  • tortilla chips
None of those toppings are necessary, but it's highly recommended.

Mise en place

  1. Finely dice the onion

  2. Mince the garlic cloves

  3. Wash the canned kidney beans

Directions

  1. Heat a nonstick frying pan over medium heat with a drizzle of oil.

  2. Add the ground beef, cooking until the meat is nice and brown.

  3. Heat a large pan over medium heat with a drizzle of olive oil. Once it’s done, set it aside.

  4. Cook the onions until translucent (about 5 minutes).

  5. Add an extra drizzle of oil along with the garlic and cook for 1 or 2 more minutes.

  6. Add your ground beef along with 1 teaspoon of salt.

  7. Add the crushed tomatoes and lower the heat to a medium-low.

  8. Add the chilli powder, cumin, brown sugar, and beef broth. Cover and let it simmer on low.

  9. After 5 minutes, add the kidney beans and let it simmer for around 30 minutes.
