A simple, hearty meal perfect for winter seasons. A delicious comfort food when you just want to stay at home.
Ingredients
- 900g ground beef
- 1 large onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 can (800g) crushed tomatoes
- Olive oil
- Salt and Pepper
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 tablespoon cumin
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 can (about 1 cup) kidney beans
- ½ tablespoon brown sugar
Toppings
- Shredded cheddar
- Sour cream
- Scallion
- chopped tomato
- cilantro
- tortilla chips
None of those toppings are necessary, but it's highly recommended.

Finely dice the onion

Mince the garlic cloves

Wash the canned kidney beans
Directions

Heat a nonstick frying pan over medium heat with a drizzle of oil.

Add the ground beef, cooking until the meat is nice and brown.

Heat a large pan over medium heat with a drizzle of olive oil. Once it’s done, set it aside.

Cook the onions until translucent (about 5 minutes).

Add an extra drizzle of oil along with the garlic and cook for 1 or 2 more minutes.

Add your ground beef along with 1 teaspoon of salt.

Add the crushed tomatoes and lower the heat to a medium-low.

Add the chilli powder, cumin, brown sugar, and beef broth. Cover and let it simmer on low.

After 5 minutes, add the kidney beans and let it simmer for around 30 minutes.
